Day to day activity and projects were largely self-directed; management
was primarily focused on other duties. Projects successfully planned
and completed on individual initiative include:
- Specify, plan, and execute projects with little outside direction
- Recipient of several awards for excellence and dedication
- Liason between IT organization and ECAD group
- Systems Administration project leader for ECAD group
- Email administration for a variety of users and platforms
- Webmaster for the ECAD group - designed and implemented ECAD web site
- Web-based application writing
- Network administration and capacity planning; connectivity among three
distinct geographic areas. Migrated LANs to switched ethernet from
token ring and hubs
- NFS file server administration - migrated the group to fault tolerant highly
available dedicated servers from a previously dispersed, unreliable system
- Planned and executed transition from five legacy CAD platforms comprised
of over 95 legacy machines to three platforms with fewer than ten machines
- Day to day UNIX administration, hardware and software upgrades, OS patches, disaster recovery, performance tuning
- Proactive measures to monitor and correct problems before they affect system usability
- Maintain, document, and automate the administration of ECAD platforms (~100 users, 5 platforms)
- Integrate third-party and homegrown software to meet day to day needs
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software problems
- System backups and restores
